What are those numbers I have to type in?

In order to protect ourselves from automated downloads and the draining of our resources we have implemented a Word confirmation System (commonly known as a CAPTCHA)

Simply type the letters shown on the graphic in order to start downloading your files.

We know this can be annoying, however we are forced to implement such security measures in order to keep our servers running smoothly and available to you.

Why do I have to Merge Files?

For your convenience we split files over 100MB in size. This minimizes broken downloads and increases download speeds for premium members dramatically.
Also, you are able to make much better use of your download bandwidth by downloading 10 100MB files instead of one large 1GB file.

You can merge the files back together by using our free Badongo Buddy software for Windows or Our Mac OS X Filemerger program.

Users who do not wish, or are unable to, install software onto their computers, may download our small filemerger.bat files.

These files are simple batch files that copy the files back together into one piece.
If you would like to inspect the contents of the .bat file, you may open it in notepad or Word.

My antivirus software is going off when I run your filemerger, why is that ?
Some poorly programmed anti virus software will alert you when a program tries to write any files into your computer’s hard drive.

Our file merger software takes a few small files and turns them back into one LARGE file. In order to do so, it MUST write the file into your hard drive.

Does your Badongo Buddy software contain viruses , spyware or Adware?

NO, absolutely not.
Our software is 100% free of viruses, spyware and adware.

How do I merge Files?

You have a few options available to you if you would like to merge files back together.

When you download split files, you will notice that they have file extensions such as .aa .ab .ac etc...

You will also have to download a file with the .badongo extensions.

Make sure you download these files into the same directory.

The easiest way to merge files back together is to use our FREE Badongo Buddy software for Windows or our FREE File Merger for Mac OS X.

Users who do not wish, or are unable to, install software onto their computers, may download our small filemerger.bat files.

These files are simple batch files that copy the files back together into one piece.
If you would like to inspect the contents of the .bat file, you may open it in notepad or Word.

If you run Linux or FreeBSD, you can simply use the “cat” command to put the files back together.

For example
cat filename.ext.aa > filename.ext
cat filename.ext.ab >> filename.ext
cat filename.ext.ac >> filename.ext

I am getting an error that I have exceeded my download quota , but I have not even visited the site today?

The most common reason why you are receiving the LIMIT exceeded message is because you are most likely sharing your IP (internet protocol) address with other users from your ISP (Internet Service Provider)

We have limits set in place to prevent abuse of our system and to make sure we can keep speeds high for all of our users.

Unfortunately, there are no other technical means for us to restrict downloads.

What that means for you is, that you will have to try again in an hour and hope that you will be the first one to download the file.

We do have an option that allows you to circumvent all of these problems.

If you purchased a PREMIUM membership, then the limits no longer apply and you will be able to download as much as you want without any restrictions.

Why do I have to wait in order to download?

The Badongo servers handle an immense amount of downloads daily. Our service is free and supported by advertising.
In order for us to keep our servers fast, prevent our system coming to a screeching halt during peak hours and in order to feed our families, we HAD to implement procedures that limit the amount of downloads a user can do within one hour.

Do you have a download manager for MAC?

Although we do NOT currently offer a download manager program for MAC, we DO have a file merger program available at:

Word Confirmation Failed, what do I do now?

If the word confirmation fails, you can hit your browser’s “RELOAD” button and our servers will issue you a new code.

In some rare instances where you are using outdated and poorly written anti virus or firewall software, our word confirmation image does not show.

You can either
a) Upgrade to a more recent version of your software.
b) Purchase software that actually works.
c) Temporarily disable your firewall / Anti Virus software.

A particular file (like a .rar or .zip file) is password protected , do you have the password?

NO. We are an Internet Service Provider and have no control or knowledge of passwords to specific files.
Usually, if there is a password that means that the owner of the file does not want others to see it’s contents.

Can I upload music?

YES, as long as you are the creator of the music or hold the rights to distribute it.
Independent musicians LOVE our newly released Flash MP3 player and can embed on either MySpace, Friendster or individual webpages.

If you are in doubt of whether or not you can upload a specific song, please contact your attorney.

Can I upload Videos ?

Yes, as long as you are the creator of the video or hold the rights to distribute it.

Our system accepts Windows Media Movies, Flash Movies and Quicktime Movie Formats,

If you are in doubt of whether or not you can upload a specific video, please contact your attorney.

What is the Badongo File Applet?

Our Badongo File Applet is a convenient gateway program that allows you to easily make your files hosted on Badongo accessible to users that visit your Myspace, Friendster, webpage etc…

What is the Badongo Buddy?

The Badongo Buddy is our latest innovative Windows Application that allows you to easily upload, download and merge files.

Once you have the Badongo Buddy installed onto your computer, you can simply “Right-Click” any file on your system and upload it to Badongo with just one Click of your mouse.

Why is my video not streaming but only being offered for download?

If you uploaded your file through the main page and do not have ANY kind of account, please send us an email at: and we will remove the file for you.

Can I embed my files on MySpace, Friendster or similar sites?

YES. Badongo offers a variety of cool tools that allow you to publish your music files, photo slideshows and files on every website that allows you to publish HTML code.
Those websites include, but are not limited to: MYSPACE, FRIENDSTER etc..

What are the download limits for free users?

Free users may download 150 Megabytes per hour and are limited to downloading 1 file at a time.

Why do I need the .badongo file?

.badongo files contain information that allow our Badongo Buddy software to merge split files back together.
It contains checksum information that allows our software to make sure that you download all the required parts and that they do not contain any errors.

Make sure you download the .badongo file into the same directory as the .aa .ab .ac etc… files.

I want to merge a file that was split by your servers, but I don’t want to install your Software. Are there any alternatives?

Yes, you can either use our filemerger.bat files or, if you are a die hard fanatic that does not like to install any software on your computer, you can go to your Command prompt and use the “copy /b” command to put the files back together manually.

Can I send large files via email?

Yes, you can send files up to 1GB in size easily via email.
Once you upload a file to Badongo, you will have the option to enter an email address of the intended recipient.
Our servers then send an email to the recipient with a link to the file.

This allows you to easily send large files to email recipients with limited email account storage.

I uploaded an .exe file, but when I download it the extension disappeared, why?

In order to prevent our system from being used to spread viruses, we purposely remove the .exe extension in executable files.

If you still decided you would like to download and execute it, simple rename the file and add the “.exe” extension.

My uploads are slower than my downloads . Do you restrict upload speeds?

NO , we do not. Typically what happens is that your ISP (Internet Service provider) will provide you only a fraction of your upload capacity.
It is not atypical to see DSL Lines with download speeds up to 10 Megabits per second to only have 1 Megabit per second upload capacity.

Can I link to files hosted on your servers directly ?

NO, you cannot and you are not allowed to. We make our living from selling premium memberships and advertising on our website.
If we allowed people to link to our files directly, we would go bankrupt.

Obviously that is not a scenario that we like.

Why did my download stop before it was completed?

Sometimes there are hiccups on the internet that are beyond our control.

If this happens to you, simply delete the file and restart your download.

Do you offer download resuming?

We do not officially support download resumes.
Some users have reported that download managers such as flashget work with our system.

If you find other download managers that happen to support Badongo, please let us know at , so we can let the rest of the community know.

My downloads are slow today, can I speed them up?

We have huge Server farms with enormous internet connectivity spread across multiple Datacenters in the United States. We also have intelligent software that move files around in order to make sure that the system load is spread evenly across all of our servers.
Having said all that, some things are just out of our control.

The only way we can guarantee blazing fast speeds is when you upgrade to a Premium Membership. We have a special server farm dedicated to Premium users are currently running at less that 10% capacity.

I want to link back to your site, do you provide any banners?

YES. You can download our banners and copy paste linking codes by visiting: http://www.badongo.com/banners.php

I did not receive my signup confirmation email, what can I do ?
The most common reason why people believe that they have not yet received their confirmation emails is because their email provider likes to put them inside the "Bulk" or "Spam" folders.

Please check your "Bulk" or "Spam" folder and see if you can find your confirmation email.

If you are still unable to locate it, please send us an email with your username to and we will activate your account manually.
